I have always had enthusiasm for storytelling, and somewhere in my archives I have childhood attempts at bad adventures and worse mysteries. In middle school, the urge to write with purpose gave me rose-tinted visions of success the breadth of J. K. Rowling. I abandoned youthful plans of owning a vet clinic with my best friend and was determined to become a book editor and a widely acclaimed author—still working on that part. I was bit by the fantasy bug and made my first big attempt at a novel. (We'll just say it's been put to rest. With much love.) As an avid reader, I developed an eye for what elements make for strong writing, and catching small errors came naturally.
I honed my writing, both creative and academic, through college, rubbing elbows with other writers all along the way and learning new perspectives and techniques. I graduated from Bradley University with a Bachelor's in English, specializing in Professional Writing. For over eight years, I have been working with writers from all walks of life and writing abilities on subjects from business and academics to fiction and non-fiction.

"Since our consultation, I knew that she was going to be what I needed to improve my writing and storytelling and get me on the right path to become a publishable writer."

The purpose of utilizing a book editor is to gain a perspective on our writing that is outside of ourselves. We can be so wrapped up in our work that we lose sight on the reader experience. That's where I come in. I understand how personal writing can be, and I will respect your ideas and your manuscript. This is your story, after all!
I provide honest, constructive feedback, and I will always work to build you up. We will foster your skills and improve your overall storytelling abilities, focusing on the development of your craft as much as that of your project. Through a combination of tools, resources, and activities, we will improve all aspects of your manuscript, from the foundation, to the details, to the big picture. I know exactly when to add pressure and when to lean into encouragement. My goal is to help you refine your vision so you can share your story with readers and leave a lasting impression.
Sometimes that means applying a lot of hard work and making great big changes to what we as writers were convinced was perfect. Just remember: I'm on your side, and I will challenge you and your story to become better every day.

I'm an Illinois native living with my husband, Jason, and our foster-fail, Milo. Right after college, I dabbled in dog behavior and obedience, and I pet sit on the side. We are budding gardeners with extensive flower beds all around the house.
